Role Overview.
We’re looking for a Data Science Manager to join the OmniGOV Data, Reporting and Analytics (DRA) Team – someone with strong experience as a Data Scientist. Ideally within media or marketing industry.
In addition to an interest in Government you will be passionate about Data Science and how this feeds into the development of insights, new products and decision making, as well as having the ability to focus on detail you will be able to understand the bigger picture and where the output generated by the team fits in.
- Be open minded and curious by applying creative thinking to analytical problems
- Be knowledgeable on how to construct arguments and how to think critically to generate positive outcomes
- Be comfortable working with various cloud technologies in the AWS stack such as Redshift, Athena, Lambda functions, S3
- Be comfortable with specific modelling and machine learning techniques, with an emphasis on classification and regression modelling, including Marketing Mix Modelling
- Familiar with Amazon, Facebook and Googles suite of advertising tools, e.g. Amazon Marketing Cloud, Facebook Advanced Analytics, Google Campaign Manager, GA360. Knowledge of Clean Room solutions such as Ads Data Hub would be an advantage
- Manage the delivery of multiple data extraction, validation, modelling and analytical projects
- Ensure all output is technically excellent, that all output is fit for purpose, consistent and accurate
- Continually striving for improvement of the team and how it operates, and the quality of the work produced
Your traits:
- Organised, self-motivated and pro-active individual
- Comfortable working on multiple projects
- Excellent understanding of data models and architecture
- Understanding of the role of marketing in business
- Experience programming in Python/R/SQL
- Knowledge of big data – ideally AWS (Redshift, S3, EMR, Hive, Hue)
- Understanding of the ETL process
- Understanding of EU Data Privacy laws an advantage
- Experience working in data science in a commercial environment, ideally within a marketing, media and/or communications context
- Client focused and comfortable in an agency environment
- Have high attention to details
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to report their findings to relevant stakeholders

- Manage a team to get the best outcomes and behaviours
- Query databases via SQL from Python and R
- Connecting to APIs
- Comfortable manipulation large datasets
- Feel comfortable with visualisations e.g. Matplotlib, seaborn, D3, R Shiny. Tableau, Power BI or Datorama would be an advantage.
- Have experience working with git and with Bitbucket or GitHub
- Practical knowledge of data cloud technologies e.g. AWS (database, cloud storage and function), Hadoop, Hive, Spark
