The role
The Communications Officer supports the delivery of multichannel communications campaigns for a portfolio of projects from across the ACU’s membership, scholarships, and programmes and projects business units.

The Communications Officer supports the delivery of multichannel communications campaigns for a portfolio of projects from across the ACU’s membership, scholarships, and programmes and projects business units.
This includes externally-facing campaigns and content production (c. 70%), as well as internal communications, working closely with the ACU’s People team and the CEO office (c. 30%).
The postholder will work closely with the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager to develop and implement an internal engagement plan, which includes the redevelopment of the ACU’s Sharepoint-based intranet.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Delivering multichannel communications campaigns for a portfolio of projects from across the ACU’s membership, scholarships, and programmes and projects business units.
- Editing content for maximum impact and accuracy, in line with house style guidelines, and to ensure that it is appropriate for its target audience. •
- Supporting the Senior Marketing and Communications Officer on email newsletters – including commissioning content, proofing and editing submitted content, and designing and building the email.
- Leading on internal communications, including the monthly newsletter and regularly updating the Sharepoint-based intranet.
- Working closely with the Senior Marketing and Communications Manager to develop and implement an internal communications and engagement plan, which includes the redevelopment of the ACU’s Sharepoint-based intranet.
- Using CiviCRM to record engagement with stakeholders, ensuring a consistent and highlevel of data integrity, and support the ongoing work to develop Civi as the single source of truth for ACU’s data.
- Ensuring consistent branding, tone of voice and editorial style guide is used across all channels.
APPLIED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERTISE
ESSENTIAL:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including writing for and understanding of different audiences and channels, and sensitivity for different cultural contexts, with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Experience of editing and proofreading content.
- Experience of editing digital content for multiple platforms and channels, e.g. websites, social media.
- Experience of achieving impact and engagement through multichannel communications campaigns.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
- Ability to be flexible to respond quickly to shifting priorities.
- Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office 365 suite.
- Proficiency in the use of Canva graphic design software
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Umbraco and/or Wordpress CMS systems, and Civi and/or Microsoft Dynamics CRM systems.
- Interest in/experience of the higher education sector and/or international development.
- Experience in staff engagement and internal communications.
- Developing an organisation-wide intranet.
