Payroll Specialist
The Payroll Specialist will report into the Head of Reward and is responsible for the day to day management of the Workday payroll for all UK employees (c750) in the Group.
The role has a dotted line into the Payroll Manager role, that acts as an advisory position (equivalent of 1 day per week for more technical aspects of the role and overseeing the final payroll monthly activities). Therefore the candidate should be comfortable with being able to work fairly autonomous throughout the week.
You will also support the Head of Reward with the administration of our benefit offering through our flexible benefits system.
What will you be doing?
Under the direction of the Payroll Manager (who works the equivalent of one day per week):
- Administer full payroll lifecycle each month
- First point of contact for employees on all payroll queries
- Ensure payroll files received from our benefits provider is accurate and loaded into Workday correctly.
- Ensure monthly reporting of pension auto-enrolment
- Ensure Payroll is HMRC compliant and all HMRC returns are completed efficiently.
- Contact for internal and external Auditors for any pay related audit activity (Starters/Movers/Leavers)
- Work closely with the Finance team to ensure payroll costs are costed correctly.
- Working with the wider People Team to make sure payroll related changes are processed in a timely manner
What do you need to excel in this role?
Essential
- Experience as a senior Payroll Administrator, Team Leader etc
- Good payroll systems knowledge, Workday will be great but not essential
- Excellent attention to detail and highly numerate
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good excel skills i.e. formulas, pivot tables etc
- Comfortable with external data loads
Desirable
- Experience or understanding of working in a FTSE business to support the processing of share schemes
- Experience with share plans (LTIP/SAYE/SIPS)
