Reasonable Adjustments
Your Legal Responsibilities

Workshop Overview

Know your obligations and support your people.

1-hour – Virtual – Up to 20 participants

Reasonable Adjustments – Know Your Legal Responsibilities is a 60-minute interactive workshop, part of our Neuroinclusion for Managers Programme. It gives managers a clear, jargon-free understanding of their legal obligations around neurodiversity and reasonable adjustments – so they can make confident, consistent decisions without fear of getting it wrong.

  • What this delivers
  • Why it matters
  • How it works
  • Who's it for
  • What this leads to

Most managers know they have legal responsibilities around neurodiversity. Very few have a clear, practical understanding of what those responsibilities actually mean for the decisions they make every day.

This session changes that - cutting through the legal complexity and giving managers the clarity and confidence to understand exactly where they stand.

  • A clear, jargon-free understanding of the Equality Act 2010 and what it means for managers in practice
  • Confidence to recognise when a legal duty to adjust is triggered - including where no formal diagnosis exists
  • A practical understanding of what makes an adjustment reasonable and what falls outside that definition
  • Clarity on where manager responsibility sits alongside HR, occupational health and the wider organisation
  • The ability to make confident, consistent decisions without fear of getting it wrong
  • A solid legal foundation that makes everything in the follow-on session land with greater impact

Legal uncertainty makes managers hesitant. And hesitant managers either avoid the conversation entirely or agree to things they don't fully understand - neither of which helps the employee or the organisation.

When managers don't have legal clarity, adjustment requests get handled inconsistently. Some managers say yes to everything. Others say nothing until HR gets involved. Employees with genuine support needs fall through the gap between good intentions and clear process.

The Equality Act isn't complicated when it's explained properly. This session does exactly that - in plain English, grounded in real workplace situations, focused entirely on what managers actually need to know rather than everything the law contains.

When managers have genuine legal clarity everything becomes more straightforward. They make better decisions, have more confident conversations and create a more consistent experience for every employee who needs support.

1 hour | Up to 20 managers | Delivered virtually | Interactive and discussion-led | Part of the Neuroinclusion for Managers Programme

This session is for people managers and team leads who want genuine legal clarity around reasonable adjustments - not a watered-down overview but a practical, honest understanding of what the law requires and what it means for how they manage people.

It works particularly well as the starting point for any manager engaging with reasonable adjustments for the first time, for organisations looking to create a consistent legal baseline across their management population, and for HR teams who want their managers to feel genuinely equipped rather than vaguely aware.

This session is designed to be followed directly by Reasonable Adjustments - Putting It Into Practice, where the legal foundation built here becomes the practical skill to act on it confidently and consistently.

Together the two sessions give managers everything they need - the knowledge and the tools - to handle reasonable adjustments well from start to finish.
