Workshop Overview
From good intentions to genuine allyship.
1-hour – Virtual – Unlimited participants
Allyship in Action is a 1-hour interactive workshop, part of our Neuroinclusion for Colleagues programme. It gives employees the practical tools and confidence to actively support neurodivergent colleagues not just in principle, but in the real situations that come up every day at work.
- What you'll learn
- Why it matters
- How it works
- Who's it for
- What this leads to
Most people want to be supportive. This session bridges the gap between wanting to help and knowing how including giving colleagues a clear, practical understanding of what active allyship looks like for neurodivergent people at work.
Employees will:
- Understand what allyship means in a neurodiversity context and why it goes beyond awareness
- Recognise the difference between passive support and active allyship in everyday situations
- Identify moments where they can make a real difference in meetings, conversations and day-to-day working life
- Know how to respond when they witness exclusion, microaggressions or unhelpful behaviour
- Feel confident supporting a neurodivergent colleague without overstepping or making assumptions
- Leave with a personal commitment to one concrete allyship action they can take immediately
This session focuses on confidence, practical action and building a culture where neurodivergent colleagues feel genuinely supported.
Neurodivergent employees don't just need policies and adjustments. They need colleagues who show up for them in the small moments that don't make it into HR processes but shape their experience of work every single day.
Without active allyship:
- Neurodivergent colleagues carry the burden of educating others alone
- Microaggressions and exclusionary behaviour go unchallenged
- Inclusion stays theoretical rather than lived
- The gap between what organisations say about inclusion and what employees actually experience continues to grow
This session helps employees:
- Move from bystander to active ally in real workplace situations
- Challenge exclusionary behaviour with confidence and without conflict
- Create an environment where neurodivergent colleagues don't have to mask or advocate endlessly for themselves
- Contribute to a culture of inclusion that goes beyond compliance
Allyship isn't a personality trait. It's a skill and like any skill, it can be learned.
Allyship in Action is a 1-hour interactive workshop delivered by our specialist trainers, combining lived experience, real workplace scenarios and honest peer conversation. It's designed to be challenging enough to shift thinking and practical enough to change behaviour.
Format:
- 1 hour
- Unlimited attendees
- Delivered virtually
- Interactive and discussion-led
What to expect:
- Real workplace scenarios where allyship is tested
- Honest conversation about the barriers to speaking up
- Practical frameworks for responding in the moment
- Space to reflect on personal allyship and where to grow
- A clear, actionable commitment each attendee leaves with
Colleagues leave feeling equipped, motivated and clear on what being a genuine ally actually looks like in practice.
Allyship in Action is designed for all employees across every level of your organisation from graduates to senior leaders.
It works particularly well for:
- Large-scale company-wide inclusion initiatives
- Organisations running Neurodiversity Celebration Week or similar awareness events
- Teams where neurodivergent colleagues have disclosed and the wider team wants to show up better
- Organisations that have completed awareness training and want to move from knowledge to action
- ERG or neurodiversity network launches where ally engagement is a priority
Accommodating unlimited attendee numbers, it's one of the most scalable ways to shift culture across a large workforce in a single session.
Allyship in Action is part of the Neuroinclusion for Colleagues Programme a structured pathway that builds awareness, language and active inclusion skills across your workforce.
Common next steps:
Neuroinclusive Collaboration - understanding different working and thinking styles and how to strengthen team performance through neurodivergent thinking
Neurodiversity Champions Programme - for employees who want to take a more active role in driving neuroinclusion across the organisation
Organisations that complete the full colleague programme report stronger psychological safety, more confident conversations about neurodiversity and a measurable shift in how supported neurodivergent employees feel at work.
