Reasonable Adjustments -
Putting It Into Practice
Workshop Overview
Gain the confidence to implement reasonable adjustments.
Reasonable Adjustments – Putting It Into Practice is a 60-minute interactive workshop, part of our Neuroinclusion for Managers Programme. It gives managers the practical skills to move from legal awareness into confident, consistent action – covering the conversations, the frameworks, and the process that make adjustments actually work.
- What this delivers
- Why it matters
- How it works
- Who's it for
- What this leads to
Understanding your legal obligations around reasonable adjustments is one thing. Knowing how to act on them in a real conversation with a real employee is something else entirely. This session bridges that gap - giving managers the practical skills to move from legal awareness into confident, consistent action.
- The ability to initiate adjustment conversations with the right language, the right process and the right outcome
- A clear framework for assessing whether an adjustment is reasonable, practical and proportionate
- Confidence to explore support needs without overstepping, making assumptions or requiring a formal diagnosis
- The skills to implement, document and review adjustments in a way that protects both the employee and the organisation
- Practical strategies for navigating the situations that don't fit neatly into a process - including when adjustments aren't working or need to change
- The ability to apply adjustments consistently across the team, so support never depends on which manager someone happens to have
Most adjustment conversations don't fail because managers don't care. They fail because managers don't know how to have them.
Good intentions without a clear process create confusion. Adjustments get agreed informally in a corridor and never documented. Support gets offered inconsistently - generously to some employees, cautiously to others. Managers say yes to everything because they're afraid of saying no, or avoid the conversation entirely because they're not sure where the boundaries are.
The legal obligation is only the beginning. What matters is what happens next - the conversation, the agreement, the review and the ongoing relationship that either makes adjustments work or quietly lets them fall apart.
This session gives managers everything they need to get that right. Not just once but consistently, fairly and with the confidence that comes from having a clear process to follow.
1 hour | Up to 20 managers | Delivered virtually | Practical, scenario-based and discussion-led | Part of the Neuroinclusion for Managers Programme
This session is for people managers and team leads who are ready to move from knowing their legal obligations to genuinely feeling equipped to act on them.
It works best when taken directly after Reasonable Adjustments - Know Your Obligations, building on the legal foundation with the practical skills to implement it. It also works well for managers currently navigating an active adjustment request who need clear, practical guidance now.
This session is part of the Neuroinclusion for Managers Programme - a series of one-hour modules giving managers the practical tools to lead neurodiverse teams with clarity and confidence.
