Case Study: Building A More Inclusive Future In Logistics
By Matt Jackson-Gill
The First Step: An Office Audit
When one of the world’s largest logistics companies planned to open a new UK office, it saw it as more than just an expansion. It was an opportunity to create a truly inclusive workplace. It understood the value that neurodiversity could bring to its workforce. However, it wasn’t sure where to start. That’s when it turned to Enna.
The first step was an office audit to ensure the new space was designed with neurodivergent employees in mind. A brief overview of part of their audit was that while they have advanced with shuttle services, wellness rooms, and flexible work policies, they can elevate inclusivity with clearer signage, enhanced sensory accommodations, seamless navigation, and better-equipped managers.
Ensuring Neurodivergent Employees Feel Fully Supported
Implementing these changes not only improved accessibility but also boosted overall employee well-being and productivity. Next, they wanted to ensure that neurodivergent employees felt fully supported. A selection of their leadership team took part in comprehensive neurodiversity training for managers, learning how to create an environment where all employees could thrive. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
Attracting More Neurodivergent Talent
Managers gained confidence in making reasonable adjustments, holding inclusive meetings, and recognising the unique strengths of neurodivergent team members. “The session was engaging, highly informative, and a safe space to share,” one manager said. “Lots of practical advice for creating a greater awareness and considering things to look out for as a leader and changes that can be made”.
Finally, they wanted to attract more neurodivergent talent and ensure their employer brand reflected their commitment to inclusion. They began using our jobs board for neurodivergent job seekers only, which helps open doors to a pool of skilled candidates they had previously struggled to reach.
The Results Speak for Themselves
Almost immediately, they saw an increase in applications from highly qualified individuals who might have otherwise overlooked the company. The results were unmistakable. We received feedback that the workshop was informative, engaging, and interactive, providing a safe space for open discussions, practical advice, and relevant insights. In contrast, the facilitator’s engaging approach made participants feel comfortable and encouraged learning. For them, embracing neurodiversity wasn’t just the right thing to do. It was a smart business decision.
TL;DR
Good hiring practices are all about equity, not meaningless grand gestures. Hiring neurodivergent talent should never be a box-ticking exercise. Equity is about creating fair opportunities, eliminating biases, and building workplaces where neurodivergent individuals can succeed based on their abilities—not just their identity. At Enna Global, the future of neurodivergent hiring is clear: real opportunities, not PR stunts. If you’re ready to make hiring fairer, let’s chat.
